Security forces in Katsina State have successfully rescued 10 kidnap victims and neutralised a bandit during a coordinated operation in Musawa Local Government Area.
The victims, six women and four men, were abducted from the communities of Kiroro, Kabbi, and Dogon Marke by armed bandits.
Acting on credible intelligence provided by residents, the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (C-Watch) launched a joint operation late Monday night in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.
According to a press release by Nasir Mua’zu, the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs commissioner, the rescue operation began around 10:00 PM on April 8 in the Gidan Marke area.
He added that the mission resulted in the neutralisation of one bandit and the safe recovery of all kidnapped individuals, who have since been reunited with their families.
“This successful rescue operation highlights the growing effectiveness of community-based intelligence and the strong synergy between Katsina’s security agencies,” said Mua’zu
On behalf of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, the Ministry commended the swift response and professionalism of the officers involved.
The government also reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against criminal elements threatening the peace and safety of the state.
“The onslaught against the enemies of the state will be sustained and intensified. We will continue to deploy every necessary resource to ensure the safety of all communities across Katsina,” the Commissioner added.
Citizens have been urged to continue sharing timely and reliable information with security agencies, as community cooperation remains critical in the battle against banditry.
