2023 AFCON: Make Nigerians Proud By ‘Doing It Again’, Sports Minister Charges Super Eagles

Sports Development Minister, Senator John Owan Eno, has sent a heartfelt message to the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they prepare to face the Palancas Negras of Angola in the first quarter-final match of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire on Friday evening.

He praised the team for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament and encouraged them to stay focused, emphasizing that their mission is far from over.

“You have given a good account of yourselves so far. Let me quickly remind you that the job is not yet done, and it will only be done when you bring the highly sought-after trophy back home as worthy African Champions,” Senator Enoh stated in a statement signed by his SA media, Diana-Mary Nsan, and shared with LEADERSHIP Newspaper on Friday.

“Your determination, commitment, and improvement with every match have demonstrated that the team has what it takes to win the 2023 African Cup of Nations. We fully believe in you.”

“Fate and the dream of well-meaning Nigerians have placed this responsibility upon your shoulders. You should seize this moment and make our nation proud by ‘Doing it again’.”

Nigeria has previously won the AFCON in 1980 by defeating Algeria, in 1994 against Zambia to clinch the cup, and in 2013 against Burkina Faso to conquer the continent.
