2024-2025 UEFA Champions League Table After Matchday Five

After five competitive fixtures have been completed by each of the 36 teams participating in the Champions League, the group standings are starting to take on a more precise picture as clubs vie for knockout spots.

In a significant Champions League match on Wednesday night, Liverpool secured a commanding 2-0 victory over reigning champions Real Madrid, propelling them to the top of the table with a commendable total of 15 points.

Liverpool boast an impressive goal difference of +11, a testament to their strong offensive and defensive performance throughout the tournament thus far.

Conversely, Real Madrid, known for their storied success in the tournament, finds themselves in an unexpected 24th position, struggling to maintain their form as the defending champions.

In another notable match, Barcelona faced off against Brest and delivered an emphatic 3-0 victory, which has lifted them to third place in the standings. They are now trailing only behind Inter Milan, who currently hold the second position.

Arsenal also made headlines with a remarkable performance, as they dismantled Sporting with a resounding 5-1 scoreline. This victory significantly enhances their prospects for automatic qualification into the knockout stages and currently places them in 7th position.

On a disappointing note, Paris Saint-Germain experienced a setback with a narrow 1-0 loss at the hands of Bayern Munich. This defeat has seen them drop to 25th place, and they now face a precarious situation as they risk elimination from the tournament if their fortunes do not change.

As the tournament progresses, there is a clear path for teams: following the conclusion of eight matches, the top eight clubs will advance to the knockout stage, while those ranked between ninth and 24th will enter a playoff round in hopes of securing a position in the last 16.
