Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has vowed to resist political pressure ahead of the 2027 election, stating that his work will speak for him.
Naija News reports that Yusuf made this known in Kano, where he warned the residents of the state against making inciting statements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Governor said he is not worried about being re-elected in 2027 but is concerned about delivering dividends of democracy on the mandate given to him in the first tenure.
Yusuf said he would serve a second term as Governor if it is the will of Allah.
He said, “What I am worried about is not re-election. I am more concerned about delivering the dividends of democracy on the mandate given to me in this first tenure.
“I want the good people of Kano to judge me by my performance at the end of this tenure.
“We know those people, who were massively rejected in both 2019 and 2023. We won against them at a time when we had no political office— not even a councillorship seat. But Allah made it possible for us to win with a landslide victory.
“I am destined to be a Governor. It is my total belief and submission to the will of Allah that if He so wills, I will serve a second term. If not, I won’t. So why should I bother myself.
“My performance will speak for me, not political pressure.”
