24 Teams On Parade As Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Tourney Holds In Ajegunle

The 2023 edition of the Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Tournament, the 10th in the series, takes centre stage on today at the Maracana in Ajegunle.

In this edition, 24 teams are expected on parade. Four male and four female U-15 teams will be at the one day event together with 16 U-13 teams comprising eight male and eight female teams.

For U-15 boys; the teams competing for honours are Ajegunle United, Dazzle FA (Orphanage Home), Lofty skills soccer Academy  and  Bright Future Stars (largely composed of U-13 ekofootball players that have grown to U-15).

A member of the organizing committee, Dotun Coker on Thursday told our correspondent that preliminary games would start at 10am at the venue.

Coker added that all arrangements have been concluded to make all the participants have huge fun on Friday (today).

“We have prepared well on technical level for the teams and we expect a high standard of football across all the cadres,” he said.

For the scholarships, 20 young students will be beneficiaries from six football zones in the country.

 

The brain behind the project, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, said giving hope to young ones has always been a passion for him.

 

“We are always happy to put smiles on faces of people who many could have considered hopeless,” Akinwunmi said.
