68 Nominees for Fight Gist Media Awards



The Nigerian boxing community will gather on March 31 for the Fight Gist Media Boxing Awards, with 68 nominees competing across 11 different categories that celebrate the sport’s top performers in 2024.

The awards will honour boxers, coaches, and promotions that have made significant contributions to Nigerian boxing throughout the year, showcasing the depth and talent in the national boxing scene.

While nominees span multiple categories, several boxers and personalities have already been confirmed for special recognition.

These include Reemy George, Hilary D. Oyeka, Edna Aiyegbeni, and Chucks Uwaechia for their outstanding contributions to the sport.


Boxing promotions will also be celebrated, with Flykite Productions receiving the Boxing Promotion of the Decade award, while Monarch Boxing Promotion, De Lad’s Boxing Promotion, Yucateco Boxing Promotion, and Naijahood Star Boxing Promotion will be recognised for their efforts in developing Nigerian boxing talent.

Special coaching awards will be presented to Shehu Tijani and Kazeem Adekunle for their exceptional work in nurturing boxing talent.

The event will highlight the competitive nature of Nigerian boxing, with nominees representing a wide range of achievements from knockout performances to social media influence, showcasing the sport’s multifaceted landscape.

Champions of Nigerian boxing, including Remi Aboderin and Babatunde Laguda, will be honoured for their unwavering dedication to the sport.
