Showmax rebrands, launches new streaming plan

A popular video streaming platform, Showmax, has undergone a rebranding process, unveiling its new app to a cross-section of journalists and social media influencers during the week.

This comes 10 months after MultiChoice, Comcast’s NBCUniversal and Sky announced a joint streaming vision for Africa.

Speaking at the unveiling, the company’s head of marketing, Arinola Shobande, stated that the new app is effortless for subscribers to access and afford the stories they love. She added that one of the significant features of the new rebranded platform was its low-data mode.

She said, “A remarkable feature of the new app is that viewers can now stream on the platform for 24 hours with just 1G of data. With the Premier League now on the platform, it is very affordable, providing viewers with the cheapest access to live games, football highlights, and more.”

She also stated that the new platform offers enhanced streaming features, including access to award-winning local and international content, live Premier League matches with match highlights, an easy-to-navigate homepage, a personalised dashboard displaying top film selections, and customisable sound and video quality settings.

She added that the new app, which is designed to provide an enhanced and personalised experience for its users, will be ready for download on January 23, while its live launch will be on February 12, 2024; after which the old app will no longer be functional.
