Contrary to reports that Paris Saint-Germain have offered Napoli striker Victor Osimhen a four-year contract worth €13m, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says there is no talks between the French champions and the player, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Recently, Italian publication, Il Matino, reported that Osimhen was close to joining French giants Paris Saint-Germain from Napoli for a fee of €120m and was set for a bumper salary rise.
Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, signed a new contract in December that saw him earning a monthly salary of €1.5m, almost doubling his previous earnings.
The Nigeria international, who has a £113m release clause in his Napoli contract, has emerged as one of the most sought-after strikers by top clubs across Europe after scoring 31 goals in 39 appearances last season and guiding Napoli to their first-ever league title in over three decades.
It is as a result of this that Il Matino confidently stated that the Nigerian was on the verge of signing for PSG, where the man from Lagos is set to earn an annual salary of €13m after signing the four-year deal currently on the table.
In response to rumours about Osimhen being close to signing for PSG, Romano said on Substack, “From what I’m told at the moment, nothing is advanced and PSG have made absolutely no decision on whether they want to go for a centre-forward or a different kind of player.”
Romano’s comment will come as a big relief to Premier League trio Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, all of whom have been linked with the Nigerian.
While he has not been as prolific as he was last term when he finished as the Serie A top scorer with 26 goals, Osimhen still boasts of decent numbers considering how much Napoli have struggled.
He has 15 goals and four assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
