In commemoration of its 25th anniversary, Schneider Electric says it has partnered with Ashoka to launch a global campaign for youth development.
Titled ‘Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future’, the company said the campaign was to celebrate and award impactful, innovative youth projects committed to building a fairer, low-carbon society.
In a statement, Schneider Electric disclosed that the application process for this initiative is open from April 22 to May 19, 2024.
“In each continent, the best project will receive the first prize of 30,000 euros, the second 20,000 euros, the third and fourth 10,000 euros each and the last spot will receive an amount of 5,000 euros.
“Finally, out of the 25 projects, one will receive a special prize of “Youth Innovation Champion” of 50,000 euros prize in total during the COP29 climate summit in Bakou, Azerbaïdjan,” the statement said.
It further stated that the Schneider Electric Foundation supports innovative projects addressing urgent social and environmental challenges, striving to empower more individuals with the energy they need for success.
Speaking, the Country President of Schneider Electric, Ajibola Akindele, who spoke on Nigerian youths driving sustainable energy transition, said, “Positive initiatives to tackle growing social and environmental challenges are driven by young people from around the world.”
“In Nigeria, we have witnessed a note-worthy surge of youth driving these social and environmental projects. At Schneider Electric, we are enthusiastic about supporting our youth as they lead the energy transition.
“The call for applications ‘Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future’ with Ashoka’s program Changemaker Companies focuses on professional engagement and a fair transition, to select 25 of the most impactful innovative youth projects across all five continents (Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East)”.
