Super Eagles caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has announced his starting line-up for the highly anticipated 2025 AFCON qualifying match against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Benin Republic will clash in Abidjan, Ivory Coast at 8 p.m. later tonight, November 14.

Ahead of the game, Naija News gathered that coach Eguavoen has chosen to implement a 3-4-3 formation, aiming to bolster both defensive stability and attacking prowess.

In goal, Eguavoen has placed his trust in the capable hands of Stanley Nwabali from Chippa United, known for his agility and quick reflexes.

The defensive line will be anchored by captain William Troost-Ekong, who brings experience and leadership to the team. He will be flanked in defence by Calvin Bassey and Gabriel Osho, who is set to make his international debut in this crucial encounter.

The wing-back positions will feature Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina on one side and Boavista’s Bruno Onyemaechi on the other. Both players are known for their ability to contribute to both defensive duties and attacking transitions, providing width and pace along the flanks.

In the heart of the midfield, Wilfred Ndidi will play a pivotal role in breaking up opposition plays and facilitating ball distribution. He will be joined by the creative Alex Iwobi, who possesses the vision and technical skill to break defence and link play between the midfield and the forwards.

Leading the charge in attack is the dynamic striker Victor Osimhen. Known for his speed and clinical finishing, he will be supported by the talented Ademola Lookman and the experienced Kelechi Iheanacho.

The trio aims to capitalize on any scoring opportunities and put the Cheetah defence under pressure throughout the match.

Note that a draw or a win against Benin tonight will automatically qualify the Super Eagles for the 2025 AFCON which will be hosted by Morocco.
