Premier League To Forgive Marc Guehi Again After Writing “Jesus Loves You” On Rainbow Armband

Crystal Palace’s captain, Marc Guehi, will not face any formal punishment from the Football Association (FA) after he wore an adapted rainbow armband for the second time this season.

Recently, Marc Guehi, along with his club, received a reminder regarding the FA’s kit regulations following his display of an armband that featured the message “I love Jesus” during a Premier League match against Newcastle United on Saturday.

This action raised eyebrows as it was in direct violation of the league’s rules, which specifically prohibit the appearance of any religious messages on players’ equipment under Rule A4.

Nevertheless, his most recent armband, worn during the match against Ipswich Town on Tuesday night, carried a similar yet slightly different message that read “Jesus loves you.”

Despite the apparent infringement of regulations, the FA has decided not to take any disciplinary measures against the 24-year-old defender, according to reports from the PA news agency.

In recent weeks, captains across the Premier League have been sporting rainbow armbands in solidarity with the Rainbow Laces campaign, which is an initiative aimed at promoting inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community within football and in wider society.

This campaign, spearheaded by the Premier League in partnership with the LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall, has taken center stage in the last two rounds of matches.

As this significant campaign reaches its conclusion with the Premier League matches scheduled for Thursday, Marc Guehi is not expected to don a rainbow armband again for the remainder of the season.
