Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has advocated the provision of a life insurance scheme for retired service personnel in line with global best practices.
The governor said this while launching the 2025 Emblem Appeal Week in Bauchi.
He said former military and para-military men sacrificed their lives and energy to protect the territorial integrity of the country.
Mohammed said ex-service men should be appreciated for making the greatest sacrifices to defend the country and maintain peace and stability.
He commended the sacrifices of ex-service men and women who fought for Nigeria’s unity, assuring them that their contributions would never be forgotten.
He also urged legionnaires to uphold justice and fairness in carrying out their duties.
While launching the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem Appeal Week, he reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the families of fallen heroes with a donation of over N10 million.
Acting chairman of the Nigerian Legion in Bauchi State, Captain Garba Itas, commended the governor for providing a permanent office for the Legion in Bauchi State.
He pledged the Legion’s continued loyalty and support for the state government.
Itas said the ex-service will continue to support and collaborate with government and security agencies to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property of citizens.
