Price Of Bag Of Rice, Beans, Tomatoes, Chicken, Other Food Commodities This Week

As Nigerians gear up for the festive season, the joy of Christmas celebrations is mixed with cautious optimism about a possible reduction in the soaring prices of foodstuffs.

This year has seen significant hikes in the cost of staple foods, driven by inflation, insecurity, and supply chain disruptions, leaving many households struggling to afford basic commodities.

From rice to vegetables, and from meat to cooking oil, the prices of essential food items have been on an upward trajectory throughout the year.

A 50kg bag of rice, for instance, now sells between ₦90,000 and ₦100,000 in many markets, compared to around ₦55,000 last year.
