Youths of the Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas, and Pipeline Impacted States Youth Council of Nigeria (HOSTCON) have described the appointment of Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents the Delta North Senatorial District, as “commendable.”
Nwoko has been appointed as the chairman of the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Crude Oil Theft.
According to HOSTCON, Nwoko’s appointment by the 10th Senate, under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, is seen as a transformative move for the entire oil and gas value chain within the nation’s industry.
In a statement issued via email, the Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas, and Pipeline Impacted States Youth Council, led by National President Comrade Emmanuel Fiawei Pathfinder, expressed confidence that the committee headed by Senator Nwoko will address the challenges facing the oil and gas sector and alleviate the economic difficulties of the country.
HOSTCON stated, “It will no longer be business as usual for saboteurs, both domestic and international, as he has already hit the ground running. Nigerians will witness unprecedented efforts in the fight against oil and gas theft, regardless of who the perpetrators may be.”
“As a round peg in a round hole, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Crude Oil Theft and Other Related Matters, his strategic approach will take these thieves by surprise, leading to lasting solutions in curbing the issues of crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal bunkering activities in the Niger Delta region and beyond.”
“The Senator Ned Nwoko that we know is a man of courage and a master strategist, equipped to rid the oil and gas sector of this troubling menace caused by individuals who have, for too long, exploited our common resources for personal gain.”
“We must emphasise that Senator Ned Nwoko, a son of the Niger Delta, possesses a profound understanding of the region and a comprehensive knowledge of the nefarious activities of those who plunder our national wealth. He knows how to devise strategies that will alter the negative narrative in the oil and gas sector.”
