Concerned by insinuations making the rounds that 25 Lagos House of Assembly members were planning to defect from All Progressives Congress, (APC) to an unknown party, the Chairman House Committee on Information Strategy and Security, Hon. Ogundipe Olukayode has denied the existence of such plans.
Olukayode, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP on Tuesday said, “We categorically state that this claim is entirely false and without merit. During the recent leadership dispute within the Assembly, a similar report surfaced, suggesting that twenty-seven (27) members were preparing to leave the APC for the Labour Party.
“That claim was also unequivocally refuted, with members affirming their commitment to the party and confidence in resolving internal disagreements through established mechanisms.”
The Chairman stated categorically that no APC member of the Lagos State House of Assembly was contemplating defection, adding that as progressives, challenges may arise are usually resolved through democratic and lawful processes.
He explained further that the leadership of the APC was fully engaged in the resolution process, assuring that all outstanding issues will be resolved amicably.
Olukayode advised those spreading falsehoods to desist from such acts, saying the Lagos Assembly remains focused on its legislative mandate of enacting laws and passing motions that promote the progress and development of Lagos State.
