An All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Bauchi federal constituency in 2023, Engr. Abdullahi Sirajo Jibrin, has decried the party’s poor reward system in the state.
Jibrin, who stated this on Monday when he paid a courtesy visit to the newly elected APC chairman of Bauchi local government area, called on the leadership of the party at the centre to consider the membership loyalty to the party.
He said, “From the APC gubernatorial candidate to his deputy and the three senatorial candidates in the state under the party, none is considered for any appointive position by the party leadership at the centre”.
He also urged President Bola Tinubu to consider those who lost in the 2023 elections and reward them appropriately.
He explained that it is high time APC at the national level acknowledge their efforts and commit its reward system to appointive positions such as boards membership to some parastatals especially to governorship, his deputy and senatorial candidates in the 2023 elections.
“We have problems with our reward system, especially regarding Bauchi state from the leadership at the Centre. In some states, APC members, particularly governorship and senatorial candidates in the last general elections were opportuned with such a gesture, but nothing to Bauchi,” he said.
He however commended the president for his leadership style, saying he is optimistic the country will stabilise under the president’s watch.
The former candidate, during his visit, presented food items for party members at both LGA and 20 electoral wards in the council area, expressing delight that the issue of anti-party activity has been squarely dealt with once and for all.
Responding, the newly elected Bauchi LGA chairman of the APC, Alhaji Sunusi Biyali commended the party member for his generosity, especially at this period of the Ramadan fast, and prayed God to reward him abundantly.
Biyali described Abbas as a loyal and supportive party member.
