Players intensify training for GolfGrace tourney

Players have intensified trainings ahead of the potentially explosive GolfGrace Alumni Golf Tournament scheduled for the nine-hole Sadique Baba Abubakar Golf Club, Shasha, Lagos on May 10.

At least 100 players from the prestigious GolfGrace Training School are expected to compete for honours at the inaugural event organised by its founder, Agboola Kolawole.

Captain, Sadique Baba Abubakar Golf Club, Air commodore F.T. Agbebi, said members were set to witness a highly competitive event next following the preparations by the players

“I expect good golf, the atmosphere is charged for the golfers to enjoy themselves and exhibit their skills during the tournament, which is about bringing players who were trained under same umbrella (GolfGrace Training School) together and enjoy themselves,” the air force chief said.

“Those involved have been training intensely and getting prepared for the tournament. So, I expect lots of competitions from the players on that day.”

Also, vice-captain of the club, Dr Dare Olayiwola, said the players were in boisterous mood ahead of the championship.

He said, “The tournament is one of its kind at the golf club, and the momentum is very high. Players preparing for the event are huge and one of them is currently playing -9 on the course, which shows how competitive it’s going to be.”

Olayiwola added that the club was adequately prepared to host an unforgettable championship.

“We’ve had sponsors and a lot of teams to compete with, so the morale is high, from the club’s perspective we are also working hard to ensure the course is playable and enjoyable on that day, so we are looking forward to an exciting time on that day.”
