Abdulrahman leads Customs at Armed Forces b’ball tourney

Abdulrahman Mohammed, a former D’Tigers guard, has come out of retirement to lead the Nigerian Customs Service men’s basketball team at the second edition of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies basketball championship.

The tournament is scheduled to take place at the Indoor Hall of the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abuja from April 15 to 20.

The championship will feature seven teams, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Customs Service, Nigeria Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

Abdulrahman, who recently coached Customs women’s team to top place at the FIBA Africa Zone 3 championship last December, will be joined by several teammates, including Daniel Moko and Samson Ogunsanwo.

Customs coach Mohammed Abbah is confident the team will not disappoint the leadership of the Customs led by Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

“This is our first time participating in the championship, as some of our key players were unavailable during the first edition. However, we are fully prepared for the challenge. I have confidence in our players, many of whom have represented Nigeria both locally and internationally,” Abbah said.
