‘Abia Govt’s Planned Export Promotion Hub At Advanced Stage’

Abia State government’s plans to establish an export promotion hub in the state to increase its participation in international trade has reached an advanced stage.

The special adviser to the governor on Trade, Commerce and Industry, Nwaka Inem stated this, yesterday, while speaking to LEADERSHIP in Umuahia, the state capital.

Nwaka had attended the inauguration, installation, and investiture of Catherine Igbokwe as the 7th president, Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.

“The administration of Alex Otti is committed to fostering a business friendly environment for the growth and development of commerce and industry in every part of the state,” he said.
He noted that in addition, it is implementing reforms to strengthen ease of doing business, revamping key infrastructure, and supporting MSMEs through grants, training, and access to finance.

“It is also revitalising moribund industries, industrial clusters, digitisation of businesses registration, permitting processes to reduce bottlenecks, and targeting support for agro-processing and export oriented businesses”

The adviser, who lauded the chamber for upholding the virtues of integrity, inclusiveness, innovations, and service congratulated Igbokwe on her successful investiture.

Inem added: “She will bring to bear her wealth of experience, salient leadership qualities and unwavering commitment to economic development and enterprise in moving the chamber forward.”
