The President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chief Emeka Obegolu, has urged the government to provide a business-friendly budget.
He made this call while felicitating with Nigerians and chamber members nationwide during the Yuletide.
In his Christmas message on Tuesday, Obegolu acknowledged Nigerians’ resilience in the face of economic challenges.
“Despite this year’s hurdles, we have every reason to thank God for life and the hope of a brighter tomorrow,” he said.
Obegolu encouraged the business community to remain optimistic about 2025.
“This new year presents opportunities for innovation, growth, and collaboration to foster economic stability and progress. With the right policies and support, businesses will thrive, creating jobs and driving national development,” he said.
He expressed condolences to families affected by recent stampedes during palliative distributions in Anambra, Oyo, and Abuja.
Obegolu described these incidents as preventable and advocated for improved systems to ensure safety and dignity in relief material distribution.
Regarding the 2025 budget, Obegolu emphasised the need for provisions catering to the business sector’s unique needs.
He urged the government to prioritize policies creating a conducive environment for businesses to operate and thrive.
“The business community drives economic growth. Therefore, the 2025 budget must address access to affordable financing, infrastructure development, and tax incentives promoting entrepreneurship and innovation,” he said.
