AGL partners CAF to power AFCON, WAFCON logistics

The Confederation of African Football has appointed Africa Global Logistics as the official logistics partner for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to the African football governing body, the partnership was formalised in Johannesburg on Wednesday, and it follows a successful collaboration between the two parties during the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed his satisfaction with the continued partnership. He explained that AGL’s role as a logistics provider reflects a shared commitment to growing the sport in Africa, both for men and women.

“CAF is delighted to once more establish a partnership with AGL, with whom we successfully worked together at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023,” said Motsepe.

Motsepe also emphasised the global importance of the AFCON, which attracts a huge television audience of over 1.5 billion people across 178 countries, saying that the partnership would also benefit both rural and urban communities by improving their socio-economic conditions.

“The partnership will also contribute to the socio-economic upliftment of both rural and urban communities across the African continent,” he explained.

AGL has a logistics network spanning 47 African countries and will play a key role in delivering CAF’s flagship tournaments. The company’s commitment is seen as part of a broader effort to contribute to Africa’s development through sport, particularly by creating jobs and building capacity in areas such as logistics, infrastructure, tourism, and services.

With the 2025 AFCON tournament targeted to be Africa’s most-watched sporting event, it is seen as a benefit for AGL’s logistics solutions, with organisers confident that the partnership will provide lasting value to the continent.

The company’s president, Philippe Labonne shared his excitement about continuing the partnership with CAF. He said that AGL and CAF both have similar goals of unity and excellence for Africa, and AGL aims to support the successful organisation of key tournaments like AFCON and WAFCON.

Labonne explained that football can drive economic and social change on the continent, and AGL’s collaboration with CAF is a way to celebrate the passion millions of Africans have for the sport.

“We are honoured to extend our collaboration with CAF. We share the same vision of unity and excellence for Africa,” Labonne said. “We aim to support the successful organisation of major tournaments like AFCON and WAFCON while also transforming African football into a lasting driver of economic and social development.”
