Ajagba eyes fourth straight win against Vianello

World Boxing Council silver title-holder Efe Ajagba will be eyeing a fourth successive victory when he takes on Italian Guido Vianello at the American Bank Center, Corpus Christi in Texas, USA, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Nigerian-born fighter will face Vianello ahead in the co-main event of the April 13th fight night alongside Jared Anderson’s clash with Ryad Merhy.

Ajagba’s three-fight, three-win 2023 saw him grit out an ugly win over Stephen Shaw, get a win by disqualification against Zhan Kossobutskiy, and then beat down Joe Goodall in his first main event.

He’s bounced back nicely from his 2021 loss to Frank Sanchez and is probably ahead of Sanchez in the heavyweight rankings at this point as he remains a solid pro who’s continuing to improve.

Fellow Olympian Vianello is 2-0 since suffering a cut stoppage loss to Jonathan Rice in January 2023, beating designated victims Curtis Harper and Moses Johnson, he’s still ranked well behind 29-year-old Ajagba in terms of development.

Whoever wins the highly-anticipated bout should be ready to start a serious contender run for the heavyweight belts as there will be a shake-up in the division following the undisputed clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury in May.

Ajagba who holds a record of 19 wins and only one loss will not be putting his WBC title on the line and will be keen to add to his 14 knockout against Vianello who holds a pro record of 12 wins, one loss, and one draw with 10 knockouts.
