Amalgamated Southern Nigeria Youths Forum has voiced strong support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, rejecting allegations against him and calling for fairness in Nigeria’s legislative affairs.
Speaking at a press briefing, the president of the forum, Hon Prince Victor and its secretary, Emmanuel Okorafor, criticised what they described as attempts to discredit Akpabio through politically motivated allegations.
The group expressed concerns over accusations of sexual harassment against the Senate President, stating that such claims were unfounded and aimed at undermining his leadership.
The youth leaders also addressed economic and developmental concerns, particularly regarding resource allocation between northern and southern regions.
They emphasized the need for equitable distribution of national resources, including oil and gas projects, and called for increased investment in the Niger Delta.
Furthermore, the forum urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in ensuring stability within the Senate, stressing that Akpabio’s leadership represents the interests of the South-South region.
They called for an end to political tensions and urged all stakeholders to focus on governance and national unity.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful dialogue while advocating for the fair treatment of the Niger Delta and the broader southern region in national policy making.
