Arokodare mentally ready for Nigeria challenge

New Super Eagles invitee, Tolu Arokodare, is rearing to go in the colours of the national team, declaring he is mentally and physically ready for the challenges ahead as he joins the team for the first time during the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Arokodare earned his first national team call-up under new coach Eric Chelle for the two games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe and was one of the early birds in the team’s Kigali camp when they began preparations for the clash against Rwanda which comes up on Friday (today).

After completing some sessions with the team, the Genk forward reflected on his inclusion in the team and what he hopes to achieve.

“I feel like my hard work has been rewarded, I feel like it could not have come at a better time. I feel like I’m ready mentally and physically and whatever challenges come my way, I think I’m ready for it,” the striker said.

“It’s amazing to be where my people, my family and loved ones can hopefully see me score for my country.”

Ahead of today’s game, the 24-year-old expressed confidence in the team’s preparation.

“We are all staying calm and confident because we know our quality and are not putting ourselves under so much pressure. We want to go into the game, play our football and hopefully get the win. The coaches come with a lot of confidence and that’s a huge boost for us.”

Arokodare, who is the leading scorer in the Belgium topflight with 17 goals and five assists will hope to earn his first cap today as well.
