At LEADERSHIP Conference Today: Stakeholders Brainstorm On Nigeria’s Fiscal Federalism

Vice President Kashim Shettima will today lead other eminent personalities and key stakeholders in the Nigerian nation to discuss the theme of this year’s LEADERSHIP Conference and Awards 2024, “The Challenges and Opportunities in Nigeria’s Fiscal Federalism.”

The much-awaited one-of-a-kind award, held annually by LEADERSHIP Group, Nigeria’s most influential newspaper, takes place at the Old Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja, at 9am.

The theme was carefully chosen due to its critical importance to the search for a true federal governance system that bodes well for Nigeria’s present and future.

Vice President Shettima will grace the event as the special guest of honour/keynote speaker.

In a statement by the editor-in-chief/senior vice chairman of LEADERSHIP Group, Mr Azubuike Ishiekwene, the 17th edition of the prestigious gathering is organised to celebrate those considered by the media organisation as having distinguished themselves in the public and private sectors in the previous year.

According to him, the epoch-making event brings together eminent personalities from across the globe, prominent Nigerians – vice president, governors, legislators, members of the diplomatic corps and elder statesmen.

“The selection of the award recipients, as usual, followed a critical review of their various contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria as laid down by the founding chairman of the LEADERSHIP Newspaper Group, the late Sam Nda-Isaiah,” Ishiekwene stated.

For his exceptional contributions to the continent’s economic growth and transformation, Africa’s wealthiest individual and serial entrepreneur, Alhaji Aliko Dangote is LEADERSHIP Person of the Year 2024.

FCT Minister. Nyesom Wike will be given a special recognition award: “Quinquennial Award for Infrastructure 2024”, for his doggedness in ensuring massive development through the provision of infrastructure for both rural and urban dwellers wherever he governs.

Six state governors who demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, inclusiveness and unprecedented developmental strides, in their various states clinched LEADERSHIP Governor of the Year 2024 award. They are: Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Pastor Umo Bassey Eno ( Akwa Ibom) , Senator Bala Muhammad( Bauchi) , Senator. Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke (Osun), Mallam Umar Namadi (Jigawa) and Dr Peter Mbah (Enugu).

LEADERSHIP Politician of the Year Award goes to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. A sitting Senator, Oshiomhole’s name resonates in Nigerian politics and labour activism. His leadership qualities, influence, and adept political manoeuvres positioned him this prestigious recognition.

The Royal Father of the day for the momentous occasion is the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar while the chairman of LEADERSHIP Group Ltd, Mrs Zainab Nda-Isaiah is the Host.

Public Service Person of the Year 2024: Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (Comptroller General, Nigeria Customs Service); Banker of the Year : Dame (Dr) Adaora Umeoji (GMD/ CEO of Zenith Bank Plc); Business Person of the Year, Dr Benedict Peters; Social Impact Person of the Year’; Olori Atuwatse III; Bank of the Year, Stanbic IBTC, and Artiste of the Year, Odumodu Blvck .

Other award recipients are: CEO Of The Year (Public Sector), Bamanga Usman Jada; CEO of the Year, Oluwatobi Ajayi; Government Agency of the Year, UBEC; Oil and Gas Local Content Champion of the Year, Arco Group Plc; Company of the Year, AVSATEL Communications Ltd.; Fintech Company of the Year, OPAY; Environmental Impact Person of the Year, Balarabe Abbas Lawal; Product of the Year, Terra Seasoning Cubes; Most Innovative Bank of the Year, The Alternative Bank; Sports Person Promoter of the Year, Bambo Akani, CEO/Founder of Making the Champions Ltd., and Outstanding Young Person of the Year, ENACTUS Team from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi.
