Audit Committee Report Tops AFN’s Board Meeting Agenda

The report of an audit committee set up by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria at its executive board meeting of September 16, 2023 tops the list of the agenda for Sunday’s Executive Board of the federation, our correspondent has learnt.

The committee submitted its report at the end of October and recommended among others that the AFN President, Tonobok Okowa should return N40m he was paid as refund for monies he spent to sponsor some competitions for the federation.

The refund, according to the audit committee report, was paid from the N70m Premium Trust Bank sponsorship fee received by the Federation on July 20, 2023 from its marketing consultant.

The committee, in the report, says the AFN and Okowa did not sign any agreement that he would be refunded whatever he spent on the federation and frowned at attempt to link the monies spent to the Premium Trust Bank sponsorship agreement which was signed days after the events in questions were held.

The Committee also recommended the redeployment of Rita Moshindi, the AFN Secretary General, for carrying out expenditures on behalf of the Federation
