B.A.H b’ball initiative targets grassroots development

The Barbara Atinuke Harper Basketball Dream Team Initiative has launched a grassroots development programme aimed at promoting basketball skills among primary and junior secondary school students in Lagos State.

The three-week programme, which was held at the Campos Memorial Mini Stadium, Lagos Island, provided a platform for children aged 8 to 15 to learn basketball techniques and values.

Harper, who chairs the Lagos State Basketball Association, said the initiative was her contribution to basketball development in the state.

“Catching them young through the school system is the bedrock for sports development in our state,” she said.

The programme focused on fostering camaraderie, empowerment and personal development among participants while introducing them to basketball fundamentals at an early age.

According to Harper, the initiative aims to lay a strong foundation for the future of basketball in Lagos State through grassroots development.
