Bauchi Gov Mourns Death Of 4 Workers At Gubi Dam

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has extended heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of four staff of the State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation who lost their lives during routine maintenance work at the Gubi Dam Water Treatment Plant on Sunday.

LEADERSHIP reports that the incident occurred when the workers were cleaning exercise the water supply system.

Among the deceased were a father and son identified as Ibrahim Musa and Abdulmalik Ibrahim Hamza, along with Shu’aibu Hamza and Jamilu Yunusa.

Governor Mohammed expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a moment of profound sadness for the entire state.

He said, “This devastating incident has cast a dark shadow over Bauchi State as we mourn the loss of these hardworking and committed public servants.”

The governor noted that they died in the line of duty, contributing to the essential task of ensuring clean water supply for people.

Mohammed, in a condolence message issued on behalf of the Government and people of Bauchi State on Monday through his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, affirmed that the sacrifice and service of the deceased would never be forgotten.

“Their legacy will continue to inspire all those who work tirelessly to build a better Bauchi State.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with their immediate families during this time of grief. We pray the Almighty grants them the strength to bear this loss and comforts their hearts with His divine mercy,” Mohammed said.

In response to the tragedy, the Bauchi State Government emphasised the urgent need for enhanced safety protocols and strict adherence to established guidelines in all government and industrial operations.

Governor Mohammed urged all public institutions and workers across the state to prioritise safety in their duties to prevent future occurrences of such painful incident.

He also confirmed that the State Government has launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and pledged to take all necessary measures to support the bereaved families and improve workplace safety.

The governor prayed for the souls of the departed, asking that they find eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus, and that their families find solace in the prayers and solidarity of the state that mourns with them.
