Sports gaming platform BetKing has unveiled a street football-themed crash casino game, JJ BallX, while honouring former Super Eagles captain Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha.
According to a statement, BetKing recently launched the game in Lagos, paying tribute to Nigeria’s street football culture and the former Super Eagles captain, Okocha, who also inspired the central character, JJ, in the game.
“To say I am honoured and excited to be here today is an understatement. I have been blown away by this creation,” Okocha stated. “I am used to seeing legends like me being celebrated when they are gone, but it means a lot to be celebrated when I am here.”
According to Betking, the new game, designed with visuals that mirror everyday Nigerian street football scenes, offers players an immersive experience and forms part of the firm’s push to blend entertainment with cultural storytelling.
BetKing also announced a Guinness World Record attempt to be led by Okocha in June 2025, targeting 2,000 participants keeping a football in the air. The initiative aims to create “a memorable moment in football history,” according to the football icon.
“JJ BallX is a celebration of the vibrancy and talent inherent in street football, something that is very close to my heart. By attempting this record, we hope to bring together thousands of people, uniting in our shared passion for the beautiful game,” Okocha remarked.
BetKing Head of Marketing, Nengi Akinola, described the game launch as the beginning of a movement.
“Today, we are not just launching a game; we are igniting a movement,” Akinola noted. “JJ BallX is about more than just football; it’s about connecting with our culture, celebrating our heroes, and making history together.”
