The Bishop of Lokoja Anglican Diocese, Most Reverend Emmanuel Egbunu has called Christian denominations and faithful to unite with a renewed emphasis on fulfilling the mandate of the great commission.
The cleric stated this during a meeting with the President of United Missionary Church of Africa (UMCA), Rev. Gbenga Odebiri in Lokoja, Kogi State capital, stressing the need for Christians to come together in love and support, amidst the current climate of division and strife.
While acknowledging the diversity of practices among different Christian denominations, Bishop Egbunu highlighted the common ground shared by all followers of Christ, emphasising the importance of working together to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“It is imperative that we set aside our differences and unite in love and harmony to fulfill the Great Commission of making disciples of all nations,” stated Bishop Egbunu.
In addition to promoting unity, Bishop Egbunu urged all believers to refocus their efforts on the Great Commission, emphasising that bringing others to the knowledge of Christ and fostering a personal relationship with Him should be the ultimate goal of every Christian.
Rev Odebiri, on his part, commended the Anglican Church for sharing the same focus with his ministry and praised Bishop Egbunu for his humility and dedication to serving God.
