Sunshine Stars head coach, Kennedy Boboye, is looking to pick up the first three points on the road for the Akure side this season as they battle Sporting Lagos in a Nigeria Premier Football League match-day 30 Southwest Derby at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos on Tuesday (today), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Boboye’s side have been in resurgent form recently, but they have also toiled for a win on the road this season, which is yet to come. Their last two away matches against Heartland and Abia Warriors ended in draws and the gaffer is looking up to his players to deliver it in Lagos.
“We are determined to give our best here in Lagos. The players are also aware it’s an important match for us and I believe they won’t let us down,” Boboye said.
Having only lost one of their last five matches, Boboye’s side are more motivated by the form of their opponents, who lost three of their last five games.
Africa Cup of Nations winner in 2013, Godfrey Oboabona, who returned to the club in mid-season, also shared the sentiments of the coach.
“The league has improved tremendously and we are working hard to win away matches as well, which we believe we can achieve here. The work of the coach is commendable and that is enough reason for us players to continue to give our best,” Oboabona said.
