CEO unveils new book to support victims of abuse

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rise App Limited, Olawunmi Akalusi, has launched a new book titled “Escaping the Shadows”, to support and help victims of abuse.

According to a statement, the book, which is slated for release in May 2024, represents a pivotal moment in Akalusi’s journey, as she leverages her platform and expertise to shed light on the pervasive issue of abuse and offer practical solutions for healing and empowerment.

“‘Escaping the Shadows’ promises to be a tour de force, offering a poignant exploration of abuse and its pervasive impact on individuals of all genders, ages, and races,” it noted.

It disclosed that Akalusi’s relentless pursuit of excellence had garnered widespread recognition, with nominations for prestigious awards such as the NEMCEA Awards and the 40 under 40 awards in South Africa, where she came second out of millions of Africans.

Also, CNN African Voices tagged her as a Change Maker due to the leadership of her Media company – Viesan Media Limited, which she founded in 2006 and has since led the organisation as the chief executive officer.

According to the statement, under her leadership, she secured partnerships with the Ford Foundation, Lagos State Government, Oracle, Comic Republic (who just secured a partnership with Disney) and many others.

Akalusi has an MBA from Mount Saint Mary’s University and certifications from renowned institutions, such as the Institute of Project Management as a certified project manager, the New York Film Academy as a certified filmmaker, and DelYork Academy as a certified director.
