CHAN 2025: Nigeria drawn in Group D with Senegal, others

Nigeria’s Super Eagles B have been drawn in Group D alongside Senegal, Congo, and Sudan for the 2025 African Nations Championship scheduled to be held in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda this August.

The draw, conducted in Nairobi on Wednesday, revealed tough competition for Nigeria as they seek to clinch the title for the first time in the tournament’s history.

Group D features Senegal, alongside Congo and Sudan.

The 2025 CHAN will feature 19 teams, with 17 already confirmed. Two final spots are still up for grabs and will be decided in a special qualifying round, the date of which is yet to be announced.

Teams vying for these spots include Sierra Leone, Comoros, South Africa, Egypt, and Algeria, the latter having previously withdrawn from the qualifiers due to scheduling conflicts.

The tournament will be hosted across three East African nations—Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda—marking a historic first for CHAN as it spans multiple countries.

Other groupings from the draw include Group A, which features host nations Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia, and Group B, consisting of Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic.

Uganda, another host nation, is in Group C alongside Niger, Guinea, and two yet-to-be-determined qualifiers.

The CHAN finals will take place in August, with specific dates and fixtures expected to be announced in the coming months.
