Cholera Outbreak Hits Delta

Two persons, including a septuagenarian, Mr. John Okusanren, have died in the last five days at Bobi Community in Warri South-West local government area of Delta State.



Their death may not be unconnected to, suspected outbreak of cholera which may have hit Burutu, in Burutu local government area of the state as well.

Family source in the early hours of Monday January 20, confirmed that Okusanren passed on Friday January 17, after sudden vomiting and stooling for few hours.

The source, disclosed that the first casualty of the suspected cholera happened last week Wednesday at Bobi and as at the time of this report, a couple of persons suffering from the sudden vomiting and stooling were rushed from the riverine communities to hospitals in Warri, Warri South local government area.

Most of the riverine communities in Delta State lack potable water leading to different health challenges when they drink the unsafe water available in the communities.

Recall that visitors to the riverine communities come with packs of bottle water for consumption over fear of unsafe water and disease.
