Chude Jideonwo excited by TIERs appointment

Chude Jideonwo, the host of a popular talk show, #WithChude, has expressed his gratitude to the not-for-profit organisation— The Initiative for Equal Rights— for appointing him as its new Board Chair.

Jideonwo was appointed as board chair in November 2023 to take over from the publisher of Cassava Republic Press, Bibi Bakare-Yusuf, who had completed her 10-year tenure.

Expressing his appreciation for the new role, Jideonwo wrote on his Instagram page, “Honoured to receive this baton from the incomparable Bibi Bakare-Yusuf, who served as board chair for 10 years. Thanks to all of TIERs’ partners over the past two decades, including the Elton John Foundation, and the Open Society Foundation. The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. We continue to do our bit to accelerate its bend.”

The Nigeria-based not-for-profit organisation was established in 2005 to protect the rights of Nigerians through advocacy, empowerment, education, and the provision of safe platforms of convergence.

On her part, Bakare-stated that it had been an incredible privilege to serve as the Board Chair of the organisation, adding that TIERs had provided safety and community for many who would otherwise have no voice, and inspired a generation of activists and change makers.
