Daga bids farewell to Enyimba

Former Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has penned a farewell message to Enyimba FC ahead of his move to Molde, with the hope that the club progress in the CAF Confederation Cup and also revive their season in the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Daga had agreed on a pre-contract with the Norwegian club in 2024 and waited till January 2025, when he turns 18 before signing a professional contract.

After spending a season and a half with the former Nigerian champions, the ex-Flying Eagles midfielder is set for a new adventure.

“Enyimba FC, from my first game for the People’s Elephant to the last one, I must say it was a special privilege to wear and fight for this badge,” he said via Facebook.

“The things we achieved together as a team, the down moments we conquered together as a team, the unending support from the 12th player (the fans) and the continuous encouragement, motivation and push from the coaches, staff and management of this club Enyimba FC, are the memories I will forever cherish as I say goodbye to this great club.”

The People’s Elephant have struggled in the last two months and recently ended a 10-game winless run with their 4-1 win over Black Bulls of Mozambique in the Confederation Cup.

It was their first win in four matches and they are currently ninth in the NPFL with 24 points after 16 matches.

“I wish you the best in the second stanza of the league and hope to see you go far in the continent,” Daga added.

Daga was part of the Nigerian U-20 team that reached the quarter-finals of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina in 2023.
