A gospel guitarist and singer, Deolu Donald, has called for more love among gospel artistes.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, Donald stated that he wanted to see “more love and less hate in the gospel music industry”.
He also noted that his journey into music was divinely arranged. He said, “I started music at an early age. Being a musician at that age can be very taxing, because it is a learning stage, and there is beginner’s fright, as well as many sacrifices. However, I am grateful for the journey.
“I never thought I was going to take music up professionally, because I actually had other plans. But, here we are. I grew up in a musical home, with choir rehearsals, and morning devotions. I believe I’m on a journey and I plan to enjoy every part of it.”
When asked to define his sound, the musician added “It’s not one directional. It depends on what I’m inspired to do, but it is always going to be about God. That inspiration could manifest as soft, soul-stirring acoustic worship or high-energy strumming that echoes the joy of Nigerian praise.”
The singer, who has released a number of singles, including one that was put out a month ago, noted that more would follow soon.
