Dillian Whyte Insists He Is Ready For Rematch With Anthony Joshua

British heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte has expressed his eagerness to face Anthony Joshua again following Joshua’s unexpected knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last September.

Recall that a rematch between Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua was originally scheduled for 2023 but was called off when Whyte tested positive for a banned substance during training.

Whyte who lost his initial meeting with Anthony Joshua by seventh-round stoppage a decade ago, is open to another bout but believes it may be time for Joshua to reconsider his career path.

“If he wants to fight, they just need to reach out to me,” Whyte told Sky Sports. “I’m always ready to fight AJ. No issues on my end. However, I do feel that he might be at a crossroads in his career.”

Whyte’s remarks come shortly after WBC champion Tyson Fury announced his retirement following consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk. This development could complicate the prospects of a long-awaited fight between Joshua and Fury.

AJ’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, speculated that Fury’s retirement may be a strategic move. “If you want to maximize your return when you come back, sometimes retirement is part of the plan. It creates the opportunity for someone to coax you back into the ring,” Hearn explained to iFL TV. “I believe he’ll want to fight again; I think he may grow restless knowing there’s significant interest in an AJ matchup from the British audience.”

Despite the recent developments in the heavyweight division, Joshua has remained quiet regarding Fury’s retirement. Hearn mentioned he hasn’t heard from Joshua since last Monday’s announcement, noting, “It’s not really Josh’s style to reach out and comment on news like this.”
