Eric Chelle Signs 2-year Contract To Qualify Super Eagles For 2026 World Cup

Nigeria has officially unveiled Eric Sekou Chelle as the new head coach of its national men’s soccer team, the Super Eagles, signing him to a two-year contract.

This comes as part of the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) efforts to ensure that Super Eagles qualify for next year’s FIFA World Cup with even the slim chances that remain of the team.

Speaking after commiting himself to the two-year contract and with the task of qualifying Nigeria for Joint 2026 World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico, Chelle said his football philosophy was about scoring goals, and he was in Nigeria to work.

He described Nigeria as one of the best teams not just in Africa but in the world.

“Football is about scoring goals, and I am here to work. Nigeria has one of the best teams, not only in Africa but the world. I thank the Nigeria Football Federation for the opportunity to serve Nigeria,” Chelle said.

Earlier, NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, while speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Abuja on Monday, said Eric Chelle will come with his three trusted assistant coaches and will work with the two local assistant coaches already on ground with the team.
