Federal Gov’t Recommits To Strengthening Agricultural Infrastructure

The federal government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural infrastructure to drive food security.

The minister of agriculture and food security, Abubakar Kyari, stated this while commissioning some projects under the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) in Abuja.

The projects include a state-of-the-art veterinary clinic, fish pond, and store complex that will advance livestock health, aquaculture, and research efficiency.

The minister also launched the Renewed Hope Agricultural Technology Adoption Programme (RHATAP), a flagship initiative to accelerate the adoption of climate-resilient technologies among smallholder farmers, focusing on productivity, resilience, and food security.

At the event, Kyari hailed the projects as “symbols of Nigeria’s collective determination to transform agriculture.”

The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to climate-smart agricultural practices, to ensuring the availability of viable seeds, and to strengthening agricultural education.
