Federal Gov’t, Taraba Partner On Infrastructure, Economic Growth

The federal government has entered into a strategic partnership with the Taraba State Government to accelerate infrastructure development and boost economic growth in the state.

The minister of state, Federal Ministry of Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, disclosed this during a meeting with Taraba State governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Friday in Abuja.

Ahmadu reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting subnational governments in key sectors, including housing, infrastructure, education, health, and environmental sustainability.

He emphasized that the collaboration aims to improve road networks, enhance communication among local communities, and facilitate the efficient evacuation of farm produce—key factors in strengthening economic activities and improving livelihoods.

“With the level of commitment demonstrated by Governor Kefas, this partnership will undoubtedly accelerate Taraba State’s development,” Ahmadu stated.

Governor Kefas, in his remarks, highlighted the need for collaboration to ensure better living conditions for Taraba residents. Describing Ahmadu as “a team worker with innovative ideas,” he pledged the state’s full support for the partnership.

The ministry’s permanent secretary, Mrs. Tinuke Watti, also underscored the importance of synergy in achieving sustainable regional development, reiterating the ministry’s readiness to support state-led initiatives for inclusive growth and economic prosperity.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Kizito John Benzena, and the managing director of the North-East Development Commission, Mohammed G. Alkali.

This partnership marks a significant step in the federal government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regional development and drive economic transformation across Nigeria.
