Nigerians across the country’s geo-political zones and political parties are sharply divided over President Bola Tinubu’s performance in the first half of his four-year tenure.
Tinubu Has Touched Every Sector In 2 Years, Says Former SSG Basorun

A former Secretary to Lagos State Government and a Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC) member.
He said of President Tinubu: “He has done very well, even though we are going through some hardships. He has been able to correct many things that went wrong.
“Before he became president, we had only Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), we now have five more development commissions; all the other five geo-political zones have gotten their commissions.
“It is not just setting them up for fun; they are meant to improve development in each geopolitical area of the country. The multiplier effect is that there will be the generation of employment and the wealth of the people will be increased. That is one advantage of setting up the commission that I have observed.
He has also been able to address some of the challenges facing the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). You can see that ASUU is quiet now; he has addressed their problems seriously; he has not ignored the occasional outburst of the union.
He also created the education fund, which makes a large volume of money available to support higher education.
Another area the president has done well is the increase in minimum wage, but the president still has to do something more about the minimum wage, especially now that funds are coming in. The N70,000 per month is a chicken change; he has to go beyond that. To me it can be as much as N120,000 because the president also doesn’t have a special market to patronise; it is the same market that the low-income earner and high-income earner patronise. You can see N70,000 doesn’t go far.
President Has Started Well, Will Do Better – Ikenga
For the spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Hon. Chibike Ikenga, President Bola Tinubu-led administration will perform more in the next two years.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Port Harcourt, Ikenga said Tinubu killed the subsidy regime to enable the government to survive.
He said based on the programmes and policies of the APC-led government, state governments, local governments, ministries and departments no longer complain about funding.
Ikenga said, “The president has done well even beyond expectations because the level of rot was unprecedented. You know that the President took the bull by the horn.
“The very day he took over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria, he announced the removal of the dreaded fuel subsidy. He killed the subsidy regime to enable the government to survive. That helped tremendously.
“You know, today, state governments, local governments, ministries, and departments no longer complain about funding. That was the first step. You know the unification of the exchange rate regime is also a major plus. You also know that the institution of student’ loans, as it is done in the Western world, is also a major boost.
“You also know, we want to say that in very terms, the elevation of the Federal Capital Territory from a slum to a great city capital, comparable to anywhere in the world by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu , the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, to construct the place.
“You are also aware that President Tinubu raised the minimum to almost 100 percent. So, these are some of the things we believe he has done excellently. Tinubu has performed tremendously well and we believe things will get better in the next two years.”
Issa Aremu Applauds President Over Reforms In Labour Sector

The director-general of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin, Kwara State, has described President Bola Tinubu as the “Chief Reformer-in-Chief”.
Aremu while assessing the Tinubu administration’s performance in the last two years said the president had performed excellently ].
He listed the milestone achievements of the Tinubu presidency in the labour sector as the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act, the most expansive and impactful N758 billion bond to settle longstanding pension liabilities, employment of 774 National Health Fellows, youth employability and poverty eradication programmes through the Skill-up-Artisan (SUPA) programme.
He said others included the 2-5 million Labour Employment and Employment Programme (LEEP), mass social housing, formation of NELFUND (Nigerian Education Loan Fund), public sector job retention and non/retrenchment in the wake of declining public revenue.
Aremu disclosed that MINILS would provide regular platforms for the presidency to re-engage with labour, civil society, women, youths and People Living With Disabilities (PLWD) on the landmark policy initiatives “as we march towards 2027 presidential polls.”
2 Years Not Enough For Proper Assessment – Wakos
In Bauchi State, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Salisu Wakos, has described Tinubu’s performance as not good enough:
“So far, so good, but not enough,” he said of the president’s scorecard.
Speaking with cautious optimism, Wakos praised the President’s efforts but acknowledged that economic hardship continues to bite hard across the country.
He said, “Two years is not enough for any government to be assessed. As a party man, Mr. President is doing his best. However, there is a need for a kind of facelift in his economic policies.”
Wakos pointed to soaring prices and a worsening standard of living as critical concerns.
“Right now, people are not finding it easy… there is a need for policies that will cushion the effect of this hardship,” he said, even as he admitted that the government inherited a troubled economy.
Despite his reservations, Wakos described the first two years as “very eventful,” and called for greater improvement.
Nigeria On The Path Of Sustainable Growth – Gumel

On his part, the APC chairman in Jigawa State, Aminu Ahmed Gumel, said the reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu saved Nigeria from another recession and set the country on the path of sustainable growth.
“The reforms are very hard, but we must make sacrifices and accept the bitter truth for our country to achieve economic stability.
“When these reforms began two years ago, the situation was far worse than it is now. Today, things are improving. The costs of food items, petroleum products, and other essential goods and services are gradually decreasing as the reforms strengthen the economy,” he added.
Gumel said in the last two years, the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu had stimulated growth across all sectors, including public healthcare, education, infrastructure, water supply, trade and investment, agriculture, and food security.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda has rekindled optimism among Nigerians for lasting peace, stability, and sustainable development,” he said.
The APC chairman added that the Tinubu administration’s strategic approach to tackling insecurity had restored Nigerians’ confidence, with the incidents of insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping on the verge of becoming a thing of the past.
Hon. Gumel, therefore, expressed the confidence that Tinubu would lead the country to the promised land and urged Nigerians to remain patient.
Infrastructure Upgrade Given Attention By President – Coalition
For the president-general of the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), Comrade Goodluck Ibem, President Bola Ahmed should be commended for his outstanding performance and vision in office.
He made the commendation during an interaction with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Owerri, Imo State.
Ibem said under the president’s leadership, significant advancements had been made in key infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, security and health.
He said the administration had prioritised the modernisation and expansion of critical infrastructure projects and executed life-transforming programmes.
According to him, Tinubu had also strengthened the country’s transportation networks, improved public utilities, and enhanced connectivity that traditionally underserved communities now enjoy.
“These developments have not only created jobs but also catalysed economic growth across regions.
“Under President Tinubu’s leadership, there has been a significant enhancement in our national security framework. His unwavering commitment to tackling security challenges head-on has led to impactful strategies that prioritise the safety and well-being of our people,” Ibem said.
Tinubu has the courage of a true Leader – Oyintiloye

Despite daunting challenges inherited by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his unwavering and unflinching conviction to make tough decisions, reflects a deep sense of high level responsibility toward rejuvenation of Nigeria.
A chieftain of the APC in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye who made this remark while speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Osogbo, noted that the administration was characterised by a lot of challenges which made him introduce some tough but unavoidable policies to salvage the economy from total collapse.
“It comes with great determination, focus, and courage for such a step to be taken in the process of transformation of Renewed Hope Agenda.
“His style has exemplified the qualities of a true leader who strongly embraces change and inspires hope. The major milestone of his administration is the comprehensive economic reforms aimed at revitalising the economy.
“It was a bold step towards fiscal sustainability, the removal of fuel subsidy, although contentious, is aimed at redirecting those funds into critical infrastructure projects and social services for economic stability.
“This has been yielding good results towards addressing the long-standing issues of inefficiency and corruption that have characterized the subsidy era.
“President Tinubu’s administration has actively promoted a conducive environment for both foreign and local investments, introducing Naira-for-Crude policy – a good initiative to stabilise the economy, strengthen the currency, create a more stable and predictable environment for international trade with the significant foreign exchange reforms, which has contributed to the accumulation of over $23 billion in net foreign reserves, providing a buffer against global economic challenges.
“The bedrock of the economy is good infrastructure; this administration has made a significant impact in this area. The ambitious Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway are symbolic to the renewed commitment to enhance trade, boost local economies, and improve accessibility, bridging the gap between urban and rural areas,” he said.
