Firm launches e-commerce platform

GiriToday, an e-commerce platform, has been unveiled to connect Nigerian entrepreneurs to global markets.

The platform, which integrates cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence, targets streamlining the buying and selling process, enabling Nigerian creators to expand their reach internationally.

Scheduled to go live in February 2025 officially, GiriToday promises to redefine the e-commerce experience by providing Nigerian entrepreneurs with tools to access global customers.

The Founder and CEO of GiriToday, Wale Ayantoye, shared these insights during a recent virtual press conference.

Slated for launch in February 2025, Ayantoye emphasized that the platform would not only broaden the global reach of African businesses but also offer a fresh perspective on African culture to international audiences.

He pinpointed the platform’s unique features, such as AI-powered product recommendations, secure transactions, and customized matchmaking that connects sellers with high-intent buyers.

Ayantoye explained that GiriToday is designed to empower Nigerian entrepreneurs by providing a platform where they can list products for free and receive payments at the prevailing foreign exchange rate, ensuring they fully benefit from international sales.

“It is unlike traditional e-commerce platforms. It allows sellers to list products for free and guarantees payment at the prevailing foreign exchange rate, ensuring sellers benefit fully from international transactions.

“Particularly, this platform is about empowering African artisans and entrepreneurs. With GiriToday, sellers from Lagos to Accra can directly connect with buyers in the US, Canada, or Europe, earning fairly and on time.”

The co-Founder of GiriToday, Ola Ajiboye elaborated on the platform’s purpose and vision. He explained that GiriToday is designed to bridge the gap between African artisans and global buyers, offering more than just a marketplace.

According to Ajiboye, the platform serves as a culturally rich hub that brings Africa’s unique heritage to the world.

He emphasised that the platform’s advanced technology, including features like body imaging and virtual reality, enables buyers to interact with artisans in an entirely new way.

Ajiboye also pointed out that GiriToday’s infrastructure addresses long-standing issues in cross-border trade, such as product misrepresentation and logistics.

He added that the platform’s product insurance service enhances trust between buyers and sellers.
