Former APGA Factional Leader, Njoku Emerges As NRM’s New National Chairman

A former factional leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Edozie Njoku, has officially left the party to become the new National Chairman of the National Rescue Mission (NRM).

Naija News reports that Njoku, who lost a protracted legal battle for the APGA leadership to Sly Ezeokenwa following a Supreme Court decision in November last year, was elected during an emergency NRM convention held in Abuja.

The convention was supervised by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The leadership change was initiated after the former NRM Chairman, Ambassador Isaac Udeh, stepped down to assume the role of the party’s National Organising Secretary.

Addressing delegates at the convention, Udeh praised Njoku’s leadership skills, resilience, and vision for Nigeria, describing him as the ideal candidate to lead the party into a new era.

He expressed confidence that Njoku’s leadership would position NRM as a significant political force in the country’s future elections.

In his acceptance speech, Njoku lauded Ambassador Udeh for his sacrifice and commitment to the party’s progress, pledging to work tirelessly to strengthen and rebrand the NRM.

He emphasized his immediate focus on preparing the party for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election and ensuring its relevance in national politics.

Njoku also commended INEC for its oversight during the convention, promising that the NRM would present credible candidates capable of securing electoral victories.

The convention also saw the election of other key officers, including A.D. Musa as Deputy National Chairman (North) and Freedom Okechukwu as Deputy National Chairman (South).
