Galatasaray renew Ndidi interest

Turkish club Galatasaray has reignited their interest in Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from English Championship side, Leicester City, when his contract at the King Power stadium expires at the end of the season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Ndidi has been the subject of summer interest from Bayern Munich, Sevilla and Nottingham Forest but he remained at Leicester, playing a key role in Enzo Maresca’s side, who are aiming to make instant return to the English topflight division.

Maresca had insisted that discussions over the futures of out-of-contract players, including Ndidi and compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho, will take place once Leicester’s league status has been confirmed.

But according to A Sport, Galatasaray are planning to use Champions League football to lure Ndidi to Turkey.

“Gala are keen to bring Ndidi to Rams Park and are trying to use European football to convince him to join,” the report stated.

Galatasaray are currently top of Super Lig with nine games remaining and sure of Champions League football next season, following a two-point advantage over second-place Fenerbahce.

Ndidi has made over 260 appearances for Leicester City since joining from KRC Genk in 2017, scoring 15 goals and creating 18 and has won the English FA Cup and Community Shield with the Foxes.

The Foxes are currently top of the Championship table with 82 points from 37 games and are on course for an instant return to the Premier League.

This season the Nigeria international has scored four goals and assisted six playing in a more advanced role.
