In a Facebook post on Sunday, the Bauchi State governor’s son urged the President’s son to focus on sustainable empowerment initiatives rather than offering temporary handouts such as food and drinks to young Nigerians especially in Bauchi State.

Calling on Seyi Tinubu to provide meaningful opportunities for youths in Bauchi State, Shamsudeen wrote: “Please, when coming to Bauchi for the #RHYE, empower our youths with employment, Keke NAPEP, monies to start a business, ICT infrastructure and training for crypto trading, and so on.

“Please, we, the youths of Bauchi, don’t need rice and food in nylon bags during Ramadan.

“Teach our youths how to fish rather than feed them for one day. They are not beggars,” he wrote.

The governor’s son emphasised that young people in the state required sustainable opportunities to achieve financial independence rather than short-term relief in the form of food palliatives.

His comments came in response to viral videos of Seyi Tinubu distributing food items to people in need during his visits to some northern States. While some have praised the gesture, others have criticised it as a superficial approach to addressing deep-rooted economic challenges under his father’s administration.
