HEI appoints new BoT member

The Health Emergency Initiative has announced the appointment of Mrs Evi Ifekwe to its Board of Trustees.

This significant decision was made during the Board’s meeting on January 10, 2025, following a recommendation by the Board’s Ethics and Governance Committee.

Ifekwe, a distinguished technocrat, brings over 35 years of corporate leadership experience to HEI.

Her career began at Afribank (now Polaris Bank), where she quickly rose to the role of Training Manager.

She later transitioned to TotalEnergies E&P as an HR Team Lead, steadily climbing the corporate ranks to become Executive General Manager.

In February 2023, she was appointed Executive Director, Country and People’s Services, while also serving as the Board Chairman of TotalEnergies CPFA. She retired in August 2024, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in corporate governance and strategic leadership.

Currently, Ifekwe serves as a Non-Executive Director at FIN Insurance, where she continues to contribute her expertise in governance, ethics, and business strategy.

Her appointment to HEI’s Board of Trustees marks a new chapter in her career, one that aligns with her longstanding commitment to humanitarian causes.

Before joining the Board, Ifekwe was an active HEI volunteer, championing advocacy initiatives and supporting key organisational efforts.

Her dedication to health emergency interventions and social impact initiatives has made her a strong advocate for HEI’s mission.

HEI’s leadership expressed confidence that Mrs. Ifekwe’s vast experience and strategic insight will significantly enhance the organization’s ability to drive critical health interventions. “

Mrs Ifekwe is a proven leader with a deep understanding of corporate governance and strategic development. Her appointment to the Board is a significant step towards strengthening HEI’s impact in providing lifesaving emergency healthcare services,” the statement read.

HEI is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to delivering rapid and effective health emergency responses in Nigeria.

The organisation provides urgent medical interventions, supports accident victims, and strengthens healthcare systems to ensure timely and accessible emergency care.

With Ifekwe’s expertise in governance and leadership, HEI is poised to expand its reach and enhance its ability to respond to medical emergencies more efficiently.

Her appointment has been met with widespread acclaim from industry leaders, colleagues, and humanitarian advocates who recognize her as a formidable force in corporate leadership and social impact.

HEI has urged stakeholders to join in welcoming Mrs. Ifekwe as she embarks on this crucial role in advancing the organisation’s lifesaving mission.
