Homecoming: My Husband Came Up With Helicopter Idea To Outsmart Kogi Govt’s Traps — Natasha

Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has revealed that her husband came up with the idea of using a helicopter for her recent visit to her constituency for a homecoming Sallah party, following restrictions imposed by the Kogi State government on political gatherings and convoys.

Akpoti-Uduaghan made this known during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme on Thursday night, monitored by our correspondent.

LEADERSHIP recalls that despite the government’s restrictions, a massive crowd of supporters gathered in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, to welcome the embattled female lawmaker. Addressing them, she reaffirmed her commitment to her people, declaring: “This is my home, this is my town. Nobody and nothing can stop me from coming home. I am the daughter of the late Dr. Abdul Akpoti.”

When asked about the decision to use a helicopter, she disclosed, “It was my husband’s idea. Since all roads leading to my house were blocked, he suggested we use a helicopter instead.”

The Senator insisted that the restrictions were deliberately aimed at preventing her from visiting her constituents, as they coincided with her planned homecoming.

“But I didn’t break any law. The gathering took place on my property. I built the road leading to my house. So, there was no law broken.”

Recall that the Kogi State government had a day before the visit justified the restrictions, citing security concerns. However, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s supporters saw the move as a political strategy to suppress opposition voices in the state.
