The Ebonyi State Police Command reported that on Friday, around 11:00 am, along the Ngbo-Effium road, some hoodlums attacked operatives of the Command on road patrol.
The hoodlums operated in an ash-colored Toyota Sienna with an unknown registration number.
Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Ag. PPRO, DSP Joshua Ukandu, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP Weekend, said that the operatives engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, resulting in one operative being killed while another is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital.
The statement also stated that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Augustina Ogbodo, immediately dispatched tactical teams of the command to the scene, who are now on the trail of the hoodlums.
Calm and normalcy have since been restored to the area.
“The CP is using this medium to call on well-meaning individuals of the State to provide the Command with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the fleeing hoodlums,” the statement read.
He assured that the command remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and properties in the state.
