I feel proud contributing to Nollywood – Ihechi Opara



The organiser of a movie show, Movie in the Park experience, Ihechi Opara, has expressed his pride in contributing to the Nollywood industry. In an interview with Saturday Beats, he shared his passion for bringing people together to enjoy the richness of Nigerian cinema.

“It makes me proud and excited to be contributing to the Nollywood industry that I so dearly love. I love that I can allow people of diverse demographics to come together and enjoy the best of Nigerian film,” he said.

Explaining why he chose to organise an outdoor movie experience, Opara reminisced about his childhood in Lagos, where recreational activities for families were limited.

“Growing up, there were only a few fun activities that people could engage in with loved ones in Lagos,” he explained.

As a passionate movie lover, he aimed to establish an alternative cinema experience that allows audiences to relax in nature while enjoying films.

Opara also highlighted some of the fan-favourite celebrities who have graced the event, including comedic legend Osita Iheme, popularly known as Pawpaw, who appeared during the Meme edition; nightlife guru, Yhemo Lee; actress Tomike Adeoye for the Owambe edition; Omowunmi Dada; and box office sensation, Funke Akindele.

“I am very excited to mention that Funke Akindele will be returning again in December for our Carnival edition,” he added.
